All Blogged Out!

As some of you know i had a back injury at physical therapy. Come to find out I was misdiagnosed by the surgical nurse and could not get an appointment with the neurosurgeon till last week. It seems, I need a procedure done. I go to a pain clinic but they have maxed out what they can give me at this point. My pain clinic and my neurosurgeon agree with what I need but so many people are involved.  The former, my family doctor as well as my lab. I have been on blood thinners for over twenty years and will have to be off for a while before the procedure can be done. I ended up at the emergency room again this morning so when that injection wore off, it wore off badly!!

I called each office involved and everyone except my lab person were out of the office. She was very compassionate and said that tomorrow she will gather the doctor and his nurse and see if we can’t speed things up a bit. It is getting worse so please keep me in me in your prayers.

    1. Thank you, Sue, Yesterday they worked me inat my doctor’s office and he gave me a demoral shot which worked well. While I was there, I finally got a call from the doctor’s office who is going to do a medial nerve block on me. They have scheduled me for the 15th!! I have to go to the lab that morning and they can’t do the procedure if my PT is over 1.4. I am praying about that. It could delay the nerve block.
If the nerve block works well it will make me a candidate for a nerve ablation (yeah, sounds fun) which can relieve the pain for up to a year!

  2. Jackie nurses in general do not diagnose unless you aire referring to a nurse practitioner. Wishing you well & praying you improve rapidly. Back pain is most uncomfortable.

    1. Thanks Connie. I usually notice those things but she was always referred to as ‘the surgical nurse.’ And, that is what she called herself. She took appointments and diagnosed with and spoke with as much authority as the neurosurgeon. I took the appointment with her because it was going to be 3 more months to see the surgeon I wanted to see.
But, ya know, she was never called a nurse practitioner. I think I will look that up again to see if she is a nurse practitioner.
      Thanks for the reminder!!
